Memories and stories of local residents, books, periodicals and films will be used to collect information and pictures as part of a study of legendary and mystical sites in the cross-border region between Bulgaria and Turkey, in the cities of Edirne and Bourgas.
This is included in the implementation of the project “Path Legends – Establishment of new partnerships for development of cultural-historical tourism”, which is already under way, with funding from the European Union under the Cross-Border Cooperation Program Interreg – IPA Bulgaria – Turkey 2014-2020. With a budget of nearly BGN 160,000, its activities have to contribute to the development of cooperation between the regional participants on both sides of the border and to increase their capacity to develop sustainable tourism.
Also in the project will be included seminars for students in tourism and representatives of local authorities to present the opportunities of cultural tourism, related to the legendary places in the cross-border region. In order to raise public awareness of cultural and historical values, it is also planned a photo exhibition in the city of Edirne, Turkey, as well as a “Festival of Legends” in Burgas.
The main partners of the project are the Center for Jewish-Bulgarian Cooperation “Alef”, Bulgaria, and the Organization for Cross-Border Culture in Edirne, Republic of Turkey.
