Center for Jewish-Bulgarian Cooperation “Alef” strongly convicts the non-human act of violence in Pittsburgh when 11 innocent men and women were killed. On 27th of October at the “Tree of Life” Synagogue in the US city of Pittsburgh, a fanatic, completely indifferent to the human life, shot deadly 8 men and 3 women and hurt two others who came to the temple to do one of the most joyful for each family events – the baptism.
“This terrifying tragedy once again shows the consequences of hatred and anti-Semitism. Hatred raises violence and terror has no religion. The attempt on peaceful citizens in the temple is another act against democracy, freedom and the primal human right to live which no one should forcibly take away”, says the president of “Alef” Alberta Alkalay.
Center “Alef”, which is dedicated to resisting anti-Semitism and all forms of aggression, gives condolences to the families of the victims and expresses its determination to continue to oppose any anti-human and undemocratic acts.
The Members of the Association raise their voices against the anti-Semitism and join the appeal of the American Jewish Committee /AJC/, this Shabbat in the Synagogue to show solidarity to the victims of the Pittsburgh’s attempt.
In solidarity with the initiative – #SnowUpForShabbat, Center “Alef” invokes all its friends – Jews and non-Jews, to express their commitment to the grief of the perished families and their irreconcilability to the violence caused by hatred towards different religions or ethnicities this Friday and Saturday.
