In the sixth edition of the competition “Who saves one human life, saves a whole universe” university students can also participate
The literary competition of the Center for Jewish-Bulgarian Cooperation “Alef” “enters” the university. Besides high school students, this year university students aged between 19 and 25 can also participate the competition. Center Alef changed the regulation and extended the age range due to the great interest and numerous requests for participation by students from different universities in the country.
The National Literary Competition “Who saves one human life, saves a whole universe” will be implement in two categories – for high school students and for university students.
In each one of the categories the participants will compete for first, second and third award – respectively 400, 300 and 200 leva. The winners will be chosen by competent jury: Rumen Leonidov – poet and publisher of the website Fakel.bg, Asen Yordanov – journalist and director of the website Bivol.bg and Alberta Alkalay – president of CJBC “Alef”, journalist and winner of the “Human of the Year” award.
The subject of the sixth edition of the competition is:
“TO LOVE, DESPITE….”
The participants will have to mix reality and imagination in their art tales. Based on their knowledge of the past, they must tell stories of love, friendship, understanding, mutual assistance and self-sacrifice between Bulgarians and Jews. The characters of the works can be real characters from the history or stories based on real cases but they can also be fully based on their imagination.
In the Virtual Library of the Alef’s website the participants can find a bibliography, filmography and publications on the subject, which can provoke their creative fantasy and their skills.
Their works should be hold in no more than 5 printed A4 pages. The narrations for the competition are expected to be send until 1st of March 2019 at Burgas 8000 Sq. “Baba Ganka” 4, 4th floor or send to Alef’s e-mail: center.alef@gmail.com.
According to the regulation, 20 of the authors – participants in the competition in both categories will be nominated and will take part in the award ceremony in Burgas in Spring of 2019 at the expenses of the organizers. Then the winners in both categories will be announced.
The organizers have also provided incentive prizes.
