The International Congress for Environment and Leadership in Israel this year focuses on plastic pollution
For second consecutive year, the winner of the national literary contest “Who saves one human life, saves a whole universe” organized by Center for Jewish-Bulgarian Cooperation “Alef”, will go to Israel. The winner of the first prize of this year’s fifth edition of the competition -Monika Mitova from Blagoevgrad will travel at the expense of the organizers to Herzlia, where she will participate in the International Congress on Environment and Leadership from 10th to 17th of August.
The congress gathers young people from different continents and unites them under the slogan: “The future is ours and it is our duty to make the world a better place to live.” Besides that this year they will discuss on the topic “The dependence on plastics and the pollution from them”, they will also analyse the situation in different countries and look for optimal ways to deal with this global problem. The participants in the forum in direct communication will get to know the diversity of traditions and cultures of different nations, will build friendships and foundations for future cooperation.
The goal of the forum for Young Leaders in Hakfar Hayaroc, Hertzia, Israel is to challenge young people’ creativity from different countries, by focusing their attention on themes and issues that are important to humankind. Through the forum they will seek their place in the decision to take responsibility for their future and that of the world. In 2017 congress’ participants discussed how to deal with the global water crisis and the threat of nuclear war, emphasizing the preventive measures that can be taken to avoid global cataclysms. Bulgaria was represented by Manuel Kasabov from Rousse, the winner of the fourth edition of the Alef’s literary competition. The participation of the laureates is possible thanks to the Ronald S. Lauder Foundation through the assistance of its representative for Bulgaria, Beka Lazarova.
Nearly two months before departure, the anticipation of the experience in Israel enthuses the girl from ten-grade from the Language School in Blagoevgrad. She is already gathering information on the topic of the Congress and at the same time considering the best way to present Bulgaria to the participants from other countries.
