The film is dedicated to the rescue of Bulgarian Jews, the moral strength and resilience of the people who decided to oppose the Holocaust. The documentary tells the story of three heroes whose childhood is spent in Bulgaria. Later, after their establishment in the Jewish community in New York, they learned about the rescue of the Bulgarian Jews and this marked their entire life path and provoked the desire of considering what diverted them from the tragic end.

Maria Kasimova-Moase is a long-standing journalist in the newspapers “Sega”,
“Demokratsia”, “24 chasa”, “Kultura”, editor-in-chief of “Capital Light “. She is the author and TV host of the BNT culture show “Artefact” and author of the stage play “When He and She”.

Georgi Burdarov is a writer, screenwriter, geographer, specialist in ethno-religious conflicts and demographic problems, university professor. He is the winner of the EU Prize for Literature in 2021 and the Vazov Prize in 2022. He is member of the jury of the International Literary Student Competition “Whoever saves one human life, saves the whole universe”.
16:00-17:00 Workshop with the writer Christopher Buxton /for international participants in English/ Center for Contemporary Art and Library, Burgas, 4 St. St. Cyril and Methodius” Str., hall “Acad. Konstantin Petkanov”
Christopher Buxton is an English writer and translator. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the British-Bulgarian Society in Great Britain as well as a vice-chairman and editor-in-chief of the society’s publication. He has been awarded an order by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria in 2015. His work is related to Bulgarian history and culture.
17:30-19:30 Screening of the feature film – “An Officer and a Spy”, directed by Roman Polanski /2019/ – Center for Contemporary Art and Library, Burgas, 4 St. St. Cyril and Methodius” Str., hall “Acad. Konstantin Petkanov”
The film won the Venice Grand Jury Prize and the FIPRESCI Award. Historical thriller, adaptation of the novel by Robert Harris, dedicated to the Dreyfus affair. Treason charges against young Jewish artillery officer Alfred Dreyfus are at the center of political scandal. In 1894, Captain Dreyfuss was wrongfully accused and convinced to life imprisonment on Devil’s Island.
