The collection “I will tell you about my savior” with the literary works of the best authors in the eighth edition of the International Literary Youth Competition “Whoever saves one human life, saves the whole universe”, organized by the Center “Alef”, is already in the hands of young Israeli storytellers. The book features the stories by Omer Toledano from Kiriat Bialik who won the first place in the “foreign authors” category, as well as Noga Khalifa from Kiriat Ono and Alice Pashceny from Bat Yam, who received encouraging prizes. In the library of Ben Zvi High School in Kiriat Ono, the Bulgarian literary collection is placed next to the book with the stories of all 11 students who participated in the Alef competition, but published in Hebrew.
In the eighth literary competition, for the first time with international participation, Israel participated with a total of 15 young storytellers. The stories of Bulgarian and foreign young authors in the literary collection are deeply exciting and their impact is proof that geographical boundaries do not define the boundaries of humanity and self-sacrifice.
Center “Alef” expressed its gratitute to Ms. Vered Elron, cultural attaché at the Embassy of the State of Israel in Bulgaria, through whom the collection “I will tell you about my savior” reached the school in Kiriat Ono. The teacher Or Cohen shares his satisfaction and pride in the students’ achievements. He is one of the organizers of a literary workshop at the school to help the participants in the competition.
The growing interest in Israel in the Alef competition “Whoever saves one human life saves, the entire universe” is a prerequisite to expect an increased number of participants in its ninth edition. The topic is intriguing again – it challenges the discovery and perpetuation of ordinary people who have committed unordinary deeds in a time conducive to the manifestation of ancient human values. This is exactly the period of the Holocaust.
